Breaking News according to my sources, the Marlins are very close to acquiring Manny Ramirez, however it is now a 4 team deal involving the Padres and the Pirates. More information in 10 minutes.

- 7:35 EDT, Jason Bay would end up in Boston in this 4 team deal

- 7:37 EDT, Jeremy Hermida would end up in Pittsburgh

- 7:48 EDT, The involvement of the Bucs and Padres is primarily for prospect swapping, along with Jason Bay. One Marlin prospect would end up in San Diego and one Padre prospect would end up in Pittsburgh.

- 8:06 EDT, As of right now, the Marlins are balking at including top prospect Mike Stanton in the deal. Deal breaker perhaps? We shall see

- 8:17 EDT, As of now the Red Sox have demanded that Mike Stanton be included in the deal. The Marlins have backed off somewhat from their complete denial of Stanton being included, but are now asking that Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit be included in the deal if Stanton were to leave the Marlins Organization

-8:19 EDT, The Marlins have also inquired in a separate deal about Giants catcher Bengie Molina.

-8:44 EDT, It’s looking more and more like the deal won’t be finalized TONIGHT, but there is a high possibility it gets done tomorrow a few hours before the deadline.

-9:52 EDT, as of now the deal appears to have fallen apart. The main sticking point, as reported earlier has been the inclusion of Mike Stanton in the deal. The Marlins are refusing to part with him, and the Red Sox are demanding him. The good thing, is that because the talks of this deal were initiated so early, it allows for some nuance to occur between now and the deadline. Hopefully, they resolve the situation.

-10:20 EDT, and just like that, the tides turn. Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus is reporting that the deal has been submitted to the commissioners office for approval. The deal would be Manny to the Fish, Hermida to the Pirates and Bay to the Sox with some prospects mixed in, though it appears Stanton has been left off the table.

- 10:35 EDT, more details have come in. The pirates would be recieving Ryan Tucker and one other pitching prospect because they don’t want Allison. Also the Marlins have informed the Sox they would have to pay 80 % of Manny’s contract.
